Many cnc machines have limited Z lift due to the need for stability. ART employs a two stage Z axis mechanism that gives double the Z axis motion of many similar machines. This mechanism is very stable over the full range of motion which is critical to avoid chatter and broken tooling when cutting hard materials at high speeds.
